KARACHI, Feb 4: Sindh Health Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani here on Saturday paid a surprise visit to Sindh Government Services Hospital and reviewed the facilities being provided to the patients at the hospital.

The MS of the hospital, Dr Sohrab Anwer Hakim, told the minister that the X-ray machine at the hospital had been out of order for the last two years and Rs25,000 were needed for its repair.

Mr Qaimkhani took notice of the fact that two lady doctors of the gynae and obsterics wards were absent from their duties without any prior intimation.

Mr Qaimkhani expressing his reservations regarding the food provided to the admitted patients at the hospital directed the MS Dr Sohrab Anwer Hakim to improve its quality.

He also visited the drug’s store room and checked the inventory of the medicines.

He later visited the residential flats of the doctors and took note of the shelved renovation work. He issued directives to the authorities concerned to restart this without any unnecessary delay.—APP
