KARACHI: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated on Saturday a dinosaur park on the premises of Safari Park.

Speaking to the media after unveiling the plaque of ‘Dino Safari Park’, he said that the park, which spreads over an area of one acre in the Safari Park, was the most modern recreation facility in Karachi that reflected the era of dinosaurs.

“We have dedicated this park to families and students. There are also animated dinosaurs walking in the park,” he said, adding that the Sindh government had provided funds of Rs100 million for the construction of this park, which was built by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

He said that Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari promised to work in different areas of the city without discrimination, and the new park was a gift for the citizens on his instructions. Soon, the zip line at the Safari Park would also be activated for visitors, he added.

Barrister Wahab was of the view that it was not the job of the mayor to build streets and roads. He said the work on the Red Line project has accelerated and will be completed as soon as possible.

Commenting on the state of affairs in the metropolis, he said street poles and lights were being stolen, iron grills were being cut in parks, and everyone was making videos of such incidents, but no one was reporting them to the police.

He said: “yesterday, in the COD filter plant, we inaugurated a manhole cover factory to get rid of this problem in every area of Karachi.”

He requested all political parties and citizens to stop wall chalking and identify the city polluters and try to stop them.

The mayor said that work on the Jauhar underpass had been completed and in the next few days this underpass would be opened for the citizens.

Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, municipal commissioner KMC Syed Afzal Zaidi, spokesperson of Mayor Karachi for political affairs Karamullah Waqasi, senior director of recreation Iqbal Nawaz, Safoora town chairman Ashiq Khaskheli, local leaders of the People’s Party, and relevant officers of KMC were also present on this occasion.
