JHANG: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto today [Aug 19] made a passionate appeal to the Opposition leaders to stop their anti-Government activities forthwith and let the Government attend to the problems of the flood-affected people with uninterrupted devotion. He was addressing a big gathering of flood sufferers at Jhang Sadar shortly after his arrival here by helicopter after flying over the flood-affected areas of Chiniot. …

The Prime Minister said while the entire Government machinery had devoted itself to relieving the distress and sufferings of the affected people certain Opposition leaders were holding meetings to draw up plans aimed at creating chaos and confusion in the country.

He said right at the moment when he was addressing them certain Opposition leaders were meeting in Lahore to finalise their plans of starting a disobedience movement in order to create complications for the Government. He said it was not the time for politics but time for service to suffering humanity. … However, he warned the politicians that the Government was not unaware of what they were doing. … He said they would find the Government ready to meet their challenge.
