KARACHI, Feb 2: The police on Thursday arrested three alleged killers and kidnappers of an eight-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from Jacobabad and killed here in Risala police limits four days back.

Police sources said the minor boy, Mohammad Hamza, was kidnapped from Jacobabad and brought to Karachi.

Hamza was kidnapped by his maternal uncle Shehzad with the help of Rashid, Faisal, and a stage dancer, Nesha Noor. Since the child was a close relative of Shehzad, the kidnappers decided to kill the child fearing he would identify them.

The captors took the boy to Khawaja Nazimuddin Park, in Risala police limits, where his throat was slit on Jan 29.

Police found the body the same day and shifted it to a hospital for autopsy.

As the child’s identity could not be established immediately, his body was kept in Edhi morgue.

Having killed the boy, the kidnappers started negotiations with Hamza’s father, Zafar Iqbal, a well-reputed jeweller in Jacobabad. The ransom deal was struck at Rs800,000 and the place for handing over the money to kidnappers was decided in Buffer Zone area of North Karachi.

The sources said the Jacobabad police accompanied Zafar Iqbal to Karachi and hid themselves at the place where the kidnappers were to collect the ransom amount. The local police were also assisting the Jacobabad police.

Rashid and Shehzad were apprehended while collecting the ransom amount. Both suspects led the police to their accomplice Nesha. However, Faisal could not be arrested.

The police have started an extensive search for locating the absconding Faisal.
