Government appoints president of NBP

The federal government has appointed Rehmat Ali Hasnie as the President of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) as per a press release. Mr Hasnie has 25 years of work experience in economics research, capital markets, investment banking, treasury and credit markets at various institutions in Pakistan.

Mr Hasnie joined NBP in 2010 and has been serving as the Acting President since May 2022, during which time the bank has become the largest and strongest in Pakistan.

Mr Hasnie represents NBP on the board of Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company (where he is the chairman) and has also served on the Boards of Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited, First National Bank Modaraba, First Credit and Investment Bank, Agritech Ltd, and Fauji Akbar Marine Terminals as a nominee director of NBP.

SSGC wins environment award

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) was conferred with The National Forum of Environment and Health (NFEH) 20th Annual Environment Excellence Award according to a press release.

SSGC received the award in acknowledgement of its commitment to environmental protection.

DGM Incharge HSE&QA Mr Shamail Haider received this award from Consul General of United Arab Emirates, Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi, in NFEH’s Annual Environment Excellence Awards 2023 ceremony held at a local hotel.

LCL’s sustainability commitment

Lucky Cement Limited (LCL) won the Environment Excellence Award at the 20th Annual Environment Excellence Awards 2023, organised by The National Forum of Environment and Health (NFEH) as per a press release.

Lucky Cement received the award in recognition of its commitment towards sustainable development and contribution towards protecting the overall environment for a greener Pakistan. The Annual Environment Excellence Awards are the benchmark for environmental standards in Pakistan.

Speaking of the occasion, Mr Amin Ganny, Chief Operating Officer, of Lucky Cement Limited, said, “We at Lucky Cement believe in environment-friendly practices and are committed to conserving the environment.”

German visit to Martin Dow plant

The German Consul General H.E. Dr Rudigar Lotz visited Martin Dow’s state-of-the-art plant in Quetta. He was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Germany Mir Murad Baluch. They were welcomed at the plant by Mubashir Hussain, Chief Operating Officer — Technical and Supply Chain of the company according to a press release.

The Consul General expresses his gratitude for the achievements of Martin Dow and further said, “I

sincerely appreciate Martin Dow’s commitment to the expansion of Pakistan’s healthcare industry by providing extraordinary healthcare services to the masses, and even beyond the borders, positioning Martin Dow as one of the major healthcare groups of Pakistan.”
