KOHAT: An ice drug addict killed his wife, a mother of four, by opening fire on her inside his house, while a truck hit a motorcycle, killing two riders here on Tuesday.

Ustarzai police station officials said the woman ran away and locked herself in a room to save her life, but her husband continued firing with seven bullets piercing through the door to her room, and killing her on the spot.

They said as nobody turned up to report the murder case of the victim, 28, the FIR was registered on behalf of the police against the alleged murderer, Gul Hassan, who had also been arrested.

Later, the victim’s father approached the Kohat Bureau of Investigation and told the officials that his son-in-law was often reprimanded and asked to quit ice drug, but he did not budge.

Meanwhile, a truck hit a motorcycle, killing a man and his young nephew near Dhoda Chowk on Monday.

The police identified the deceased as Fahad, 18, and Ghalib Gul.

They said truck driver, Irshad of Ghurazai Payan, was held by the people on the scene and handed over to the police.

Separately, the Kohat city police on Tuesday arrested two robbers, who had deprived a man of his mobile phone and cash at gunpoint on Sunday.

A team led SHO Fazal Mehmood raided a hideout on a tip-off and arrested two robbers, Sohail of Muhammadzai, and Rehman of Hafizabad, and recovered Rs25,000 looted cash, a mobile phone and a pistol from them.

BOYCOTT ENDED: A committee of elders of Darmalak area of Lachi tehsil on Tuesday ended the boycott of the ongoing polio campaign after the Kohat district administration officials ordered immediate restoration of gas supply to their area.

Additional deputy commissioner Shehryar Qamar and assistant commissioner, Lachi, Ms Maleeha held talks with the president of the committee Mufti Roohul Amin, general secretary Fayyaz and other members, requesting them to allow their children to be administered polio drops.

Mr Qamar assured the elders that he would talk to the Hungarian oil and gas exploration company, MOL, to carpet roads and provide clean drinking water to the residents under its corporate social responsibility.

Separately, the residents ended the weeklong blockade of the Togh Bla oil and gas plant on Tuesday after the Oil and Gas Development Company appointed 22 locals as watchmen and three supervisors.

The locals had blocked the main gate of the facility to protest the prolonged delay in fulfilling the promises made by the OGDCL officials to give local people employment in the plant.
