MMA rally on Kashmir Day

Published February 2, 2006

LAHORE, Feb 1: The MMA will hold a rally on the Kashmir Solidarity Day falling on Feb 5. The rally will start from Nasser Bagh and participants will march up to the Punjab Assembly, MMA leaders Amirul Azeem, Saifuddin Saif and others told a press conference on Wednesday.

Deputy secretary-general Liaquat Baloch will lead the rally.

They demanded that the government should change its policy on Kashmir and announce its open and unconditional moral and political support for the struggle of Kashmiris.

They alleged the government was continuously dragging its feet on the Kashmir issue under US pressure and in a bid to present its soft image to the world. The policy, they said, had resulted in freeing Indian armed forces and opening fronts against Pakistan in Kabul and Jalalabad. New Delhi was now openly interfering in internal affairs of Pakistan by giving statements on Balochistan issue, they regretted.
