GUJRAT: A father of five children was allegedly gunned down by a drunkard man during a volleyball match at Paharey village in Kakrali police precincts near Kotla Arab Ali Khan.

As per eyewitnesses, the suspect, Amir Ilyas Awan, arrived at the village ground, where a volleyball match was underway.

They said the suspect first hurled abuses at one Naseem Ansar and then pulled out a pistol and opened fire, leaving him critically injured.

The suspect fled the scene, while the injured man was shifted to the Kotla Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to his bullet wounds. The locals say the suspect was an alcoholic and would often hurl abuses at people. They say that local police were earlier informed of the suspect’s conduct, but they took no action against him, resulting in the murder.
