KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Tuesday that the provincial government and local administration were on full alert to face the impacts of recent rains across the province.

Accompanied by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Mr Memon told a press conference that the district and provincial administrations were taking measures to keep the situation under control during the rain emergency from the provincial to the tehsil and union council levels.

He announced that additional buses had arrived in Karachi to enhance travel facilities for the people. He added that specific routes for those buses would be determined and announced in the near future.

Speaking about the significance of the Karoonjhar Hills, he affirmed that its historical status would remain intact.

The Sindh government was fully cognizant of the historical significance of Thar and Karoonjhar and committed to preserving and promoting their importance, he added.
