ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Wednesday said after shifting of the sessions court to a state of the art District Courts Complex, efforts are being made for swift disposal of the pending cases.

Justice Farooq was visiting the press room of the newly constructed building of the IHC.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, IHC registrar Sardar Tahir Sabir and Secretary Noor Mirza accompanied the Chief Justice.

Justice Farooq said that the IHC administration is working on a comprehensive policy for speedy disposal of the cases and for this purpose the record has been digitalised.

He said the data entry operators had been inducted and they are currently undergoing trainin for maintaining and handling the courts record.

He further said efforts were being made to clear backlog of old cases and disposal of the newly instituted cases as per the priority policy.

Justice Farooq said that in order to reduce burden on the courts, the alternate dispute resolutions (ADR) system will be encouraged.

ADR refers to the different ways people can resolve disputes without a trial. Common ADR processes include mediation, arbitration, and neutral evaluation. These processes are generally confidential, less formal, and less stressful than traditional court proceedings. Justice Jahangiri advised the media to focus on the problems of common litigants.

He urged the media to highlight the plight of common citizen as well.
