LAKKI MARWAT: The police have booked two brothers for torturing their sister-in-law in Zangkhel area of Lakki Marwat district.

Lakki city police station officials said the incident occurred on July 1, and it was reported to the police by the victim the same day.

They said the police registered the case in daily diary, and after receiving medico-legal report, forwarded the matter to district public prosecutor for a legal opinion.

They said on the basis of prosecutor’s legal opinion, an FIR was registered on July 18.

The victim, Fazeela Bibi, whose husband is in Saudi Arabia, told the police that her brother-in-laws, Amanullah, Najibullah and their nephew, Inamullah, tortured her when she refused to go to her parents’ house on their insistence.

She said the incident occurred during the wedding ceremony of Amanullah.

She said other relatives rescued her.

The police said they had launched efforts to arrest the culprits.

Separately, the police on Wednesday arrested a man for shooting at and injuring a boy inside his house in Naurang town.

Officials said the police also seized a pistol from the accused, Anwar Khan, who had opened fire on Tayyab Khan when he entered his house while chasing a stray kite.

FINED: Officials of the district administration and food department on Wednesday fined several shopkeepers and owners of petrol pumps and ice factories in Lakki and Bannu for violating officially-fixed prices and selling substandard products.

Lakki district food controller Aman Khan visited bazaars and checked prices of commodities and availability of official rate lists at the outlets.

He found several traders fleecing consumers and imposed heavy fines on them.

In Bannu, additional assistant commissioners Zaman Khan and Khayam Nasir paid surprise visits to petrol pumps and ice factories to check meters and quality and rate of ice blocks.

They fined several owners of ice factories and directed them to install water filtration plants and implement rates of ice blocks fixed by the administration.

They also warned owners of petrol pumps of action if they were found involved in selling oil products at exorbitant rates.
