PESHAWAR: The business community has demanded of the provincial government to take appropriate steps for supporting the traders associated with the furniture industry in order to boost the business in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking at a meeting during a three-day Pakistan Furniture Expo being held here, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry acting president Ijaz Afridi said the furniture industry had played a pivotal role in economic development and enhancement of the country’s exports. He said the business needed government support.

Mr Afridi said huge investment potential existed in the province’s furniture sector.

Various Pakistani and international entrepreneurs have set up stalls at the furniture expo.

The SCCI’s acting chief said the business community in KP had faced various difficulties due to economic turmoil and terrorism, and urged the government to take steps for resolution of their issues.
