KARACHI: Mahateer Mohammad outplayed Mohammad Salar in the junior U-18 final of the 20th KC Westbury National Seniors & Juniors Tennis Championships which culminated here at Karachi Club on Friday.

Displaying exceptional skills, Mahateer secured a facile 6-2, 6-4 victory against Salar of Islamabad. The girls U-18 singles decider took an unexpected turn when Natalia Zaman suffered an injury during the match which gave Zainab Ali victory.

The U-14 singles final saw Hyderabad’s Muzammil Bhand overpowering Muhammad Ali Bachani 4-2, 4-0 while Rashid Ali claimed the U-12 honours as he routed Abdul Malik 4-0, 4-1. Rashid also won the U-10 title with victory against Mohammad Ibrahim Gill.

Eschelle Asif defeated Inaya Sayyed 4-2, 2-4, 4-1 in the girls U-14 final.

In the doubles categories, Samer Zaman and Muzammil Bhand claimed the Under-12 doubles final with a resounding 4-0, 4-0 win against Laraib Shamsi and Abdullah Razzaq. Rashid and Ibraheem claimed the U-14 doubles final outclassing Rohan Das and Arsh Imran 4-1, 4-1.

In the senior category, Samir Piracha & Khalid Ali Nazar emerged victorious in the 35-plus doubles final with a 9-7 win against Shamael Tajamul and Rizwan Hussain.

The men’s doubles final, the concluding event of the championships, witnessed Omer Shahid and Farhan Mustafa team up to claim a 8-4 victory against Mahateer and Hasheesh Kumar.
