DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has said the British colonial system has been imposed in the country even after passing of 75 years due to which people are not getting justice.

He was addressing a workers’ convention of his party here on Sunday. The convention was also attended by JI provincial general secretary Abdul Wasi, Daraban Kalan tehsil chairman Sardar Ihsanullah Khan Miankhel, JI district chief Manzar Masud Khattak, JI youth wing leader Samiullah, Abdul Mateen Babar, Mohammad Aqeel and a large number of workers.

The JI chief alleged that government was enacting laws to appease International Monetary Fund.

He said that none of the rulers raised voice for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from the American prison. He said that there was no difference between the current rulers and dictators.

He said that chief of ruling coalition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was a religious scholar Maulana Fazlur Rehman but the government was supporting the system of interest in the country.

Mr Siraj said that there would be no change in the country if the present rulers continued to run its affairs.

He said that protests were held across the world against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden. He added that many Muslim countries expelled the ambassadors of Sweden but Pakistani rulers could not dare to do so.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Wasi said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was the head of PDM, his son was a federal minister and his relative was governor of the province but people in a tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan were longing for a single drop of water.

Addressing the convention, Sardar Ihsanullah Khan Miankhel also condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran. He said that JI wanted to uproot corruption in the country. He demanded of the government to provide basic facilities to the people of Daraban Kalan tehsil. He said that Chashma Right Bank Canal should be restored as soon as possible.

Speaking on the occasion, Samiullah said that the ambassador of Sweden should be expelled from Pakistan. He said that the government was unable to take bold steps.

Manzar Masud Khattak said that the large number of participants in the convention proved that people had trust in JI. He said that Al-Khidmat Foundation provided relief to people affected by the recent floods.

Abdul Mateen Babar told the convention that human beings and animals drank water from the same pond in Darban Kalan tehsil. “Health and education facilities are not provided to people,” he added.
