QUETTA: World Bank Country Director Najy Binhassine has congratulated the Balochistan government on successful completion of Governance and Policy Project Balochistan (GPP).

The statement issued on Sunday by World Bank said that GPP has achieved significant success in improving governance and public service delivery in Balochistan.

Project Coordinator Governance and Policy Project Balochistan Rashid Razzaq stated that under the leadership of the Balochistan government, GPP has made remarkable strides towards achieving its goals.

The project aimed to improve governance and public service delivery in Balochistan through various initiatives and collaborations with key stakeholders.

“GPP has given extensive support to the Finance Department for an improved Public Financial Management System. GPP established Internal Audit Unit, Debt and Revenue Management Unit. Public GPP’s support to the Balochistan Revenue Authority has resulted in a substantial increase in tax revenue. Since the initiation of the project, BRA has successfully collected over Rs. 24billion in sales tax on services, strengthening the financial resources of Balochistan,” he said.
