LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday told the Lahore High Court (LHC) that two inquiries were pending against Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan.

A lawyer for the NAB filed a report in the court as required in a petition of the PTI chairman’s wife.

He said the bureau launched two inquiries against the petitioner – Al-Qadir Trust and Toshakhana.

Another law officer filed a report on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) saying one case has been registered against the petitioner in Sahiwal region.

He said no case was registered by the police of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the petitioner.

In light of the reports, Justice Amjad Rafiq disposed of the petition of Bushra Bibi.

Previously, the court was told that Islamabad police registered a case against the wife of the PTl chairman on charges of forgery in the sale of Toshakhana gifts.

Kohsar police of Islamabad registered the FIR against the PTl chief, his wife, ex-accountability czar Shahzad Akbar, PTl leader Zulfi Bukhari and others on a complaint of a trader. He alleged that the suspects had committed fraud and forgery by misusing the letterheads and signatures of his business showing sale and purchase of the Toshakhana gifts, including watches and cufflinks.

DISPOSED OF: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday disposed of a petition by the wife of PTI Senator Ijaz Chaudhry seeking facilities for her husband in the jail.

A law officer told the court that the petitioner filed an application with the inspector general of prisons, which had been forwarded to the additional secretary for home. He further told the court that the persons arrested in cases under the terrorism law were not provided better class in the jail.

Justice Waheed Khan disposed of the petition and directed the additional secretary for home to decide the application of the petitioner in accordance with law.

Petitioner Salma Ijaz contended through a counsel that her husband was an elderly person with medical history. She said the PTI leader was on judicial remand in cases related to the May 9 events.

She pleaded that the authorities were not allowing the senator to meet his family, receive medicines and home-cooked food.

She asked the court to order the jail officials to provide the PTI leader all facilities he was entitled to under the law.
