LAHORE: Four robbers looted a bank and some customers in Barki area here on Monday.

They also injured a security guard of the bank on resistance, snatched the weapon and made off with the looted amount worth millions of rupees.

An official said four suspects entered the MCB branch at Barki, held up two guards, the manager and other staff at gunpoint.

He said they collected money and gold from the lockers and vaults of the bank and snatched amount from the cashier. They also collected a cash of Rs4 million from a customer Imran Ali and deprived some other visitors of their amount and belongings.

Meanwhile, the official said, security guard Munawar overpowered one of the suspects. The other suspects came to the help of their accomplice, injured the guard and then fled the scene with all the looted amount.

According to the initial reports, the estimated cash looted from the bank was over Rs70m other than the amount snatched from the customers.

The DIG operations, Cantonment SP and other senior police officials reached the spot to investigate the incident.
