KARACHI: Grey horse Flag Of Champion looks to make it two on the trot should he repeat his performance by capturing the Prime Cup when it takes place during the Gymkhana race meeting here at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Flag Of Champion, earlier this month, coasted to a five lengths victory over bay horse Achilles in his last run.

He is drawn alongside five opponents in the cup race under combined scale order III, IV and V. He may be chased by chestnut Wapiti. However, either of the two stable mates — colts Valentino or Joint Affair — can pull off an upset provided they are tried by connection.

A small four-race card has been chalked out for the day’s meeting. All the races will be contested over four furlongs.

Bay horse Thakur looks poised to make amends by winning the opening race under scale order VIII which has only five acceptors.

Thakur had to be content with third place last week. Mare Bangash Queen is likely to follow in the footsteps of Thakur.

If on job, dark bay mare Basanti may trigger an upset.

Mare Stifee looks a good choice to shine in the second race under scale order VII and VIII where a quartet will vie for honours. She has to get past challenger gelding Faisal Choice to make amends for last week’s second finish.

The fourth and concluding race, classified under scale order VI and VII, seems to be a two-horse affair between bay horses Achilles and Desco.

The former is on course to make it two in a row while the latter has a chance to complete a hat-trick.

The first race starts at 3:30pm.
