SARGODHA: The metropolitan corporation’s building surveyor was arrested red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs40,000.

The suspect had earlier taken Rs70,000 from the complainant for approval of a map of a commercial property.

An Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team conducted a surprise raid under the supervision of Magistrate/Senior Civil Judge Ameer Ahmad Khan and arrested Sargodha Building Surveyor Arshad Parvez red-handed while accepting Rs40,000 from a citizen.

The ACE team recovered the bribe amount from the suspect in presence of the magistrate and registered a case against him.

SENTENCED: Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Nisar Ahmad while pronouncing the verdict in a drug case sentenced a woman drug dealer to 13 months imprisonment.

According to the sources, on Aug 2, 2022, Humaira Ejaz, a resident of Muslim Town, was arrested for selling drugs in the Satellite Town area of Sargodha and 1,260 grams of hashish was recovered from her possession. Besides going through the jail term, the convict would also pay a Rs10,000 fine.

According to a report, there was a quarrel between Sana and her mother Shamim Bibi. They had an exchange of harsh words again on Friday and Sana announced to leave the house while shouting. Her mother stopped her but she did not stop. Shamim opened fire on her and killed her.

However, Dua Bibi, a sister of Sana, accused the two people, Sikandar and Irfan, of committing the murder.

The police shifted the body to the hospital for a post-mortem.
