ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the SSP (investigation) and SP City along with geo-fencing report of the area from where senior journalist Sami Ibrahim was abducted.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq also directed the Secretary Interior to place details of all the cases registered against the journalist.

During hearing in a petition seeking recovery of Ibrahim, Aabpara police SHO informed the court that an (FIR had been registered against the journalist’s disappearance).

The state counsel informed the court that the police was recording statements of the witnesses and the investigators would proceed in this matter accordingly.

He said there was no case registered against the journalist with Islamabad police and the FIA.

He further said that the interior ministry could not be contacted to get the details of cases against Ibrahim.

Justice Farooq expressed displeasure over the lethargy of police and inquired as if there was any CCTV camera in the nearby area from where Ibrahim went missing.

SHO informed the court that he would check that. The legal counsel of Ministry of Defence informed the court that Ibrahim was not in the custody of intelligence agencies under the administrative control of the ministry. He, however, sought time for a detailed ground check.

The court put off further hearing in this matter till May 29. Petitioner’s counsel argued before the court that some unknown people lifted Sami Ibrahim from 7th Avenue.

He requested the court to direct the respondent authorities for the recovery of Ibrahim.
