KARACHI: A couple drowned in a waterway along Northern Bypass on Thursday evening, according to rescue services.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said the couple, along with other family members, had gone to the spot known as Mai Garhi Nadi for a picnic. While bathing in the waterway, Salman Musharraf, 40, and his wife, Sawera Salman, 23, drowned.

Edhi divers rushed to the spot and fished out their bodies, which were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal proceedings.

Youth found hanging with tree in Gadap

The trussed-up body, said to be two-day-old, of a male youth was found hanging from a tree near Wadi-i-Hussain graveyard in Gadap on Thursday, according to police and rescue services.

Area SHO Haji Sanaullah said that the deceased, seemed to be in his early 20s, was strangulated to death and his body was later hanged with the tree near the graveyard on M9. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors reserved the cause of his death.
