PESHAWAR: One person was killed and five other sustained injuries in a CNG cylinder explosion here on Thursday.

According to details, a CNG kit was being installed in a vehicle at a mechanic’s shop in Pir Bala area when it blew up, police said. All the six injured persons were shifted to the hospital where Raheem Shah succumbed to the injuries while the others including Faisal, Riaz, Tarmeem, Fakhar Alam and Bashir were under treatment.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDU) reached the spot where the team confirmed that explosion was caused after the CNG cylinder exploded.

Meanwhile, the bomb disposal unit defused an improvised explosive device (IED) on Nasir Bagh Road on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Thursday afternoon. Police stated that they received the information about the IED, adding the area was immediately cordoned off and the BDU team was called, which defused the device.
