PESHAWAR: Two soldiers embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire with militants in an operation that also left three militants dead in Tank on Sunday.

According to official sources, a security agency conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.

A statement issued by the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the militants killed during the operation were involved in attacks against security forces as well as civilians.

“During a fierce exchange of fire, 39-year-old Naik Mohammad Atiq from Chakwal, and 36-year-old Naik Rajab Ali from Attock, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom,” it said.

“Sanitisation is being carried out to eliminate any militant found in the area,” it added.

The ISPR said the security forces were determined to eliminate militancy and sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthened their resolve.
