KARACHI: Bay horse Thunder Strike looks the best bet in the May Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

With Labour Day Cup already under his belt, he is on chance to repeat his winning feat by getting the better of half-a-dozen other contenders in the four furlongs cup race classified under scale order III and IV.

He is likely to be chased by another bay horse Gold Company who was placed second behind King’s Ransom last week. However, if on job, colt Valentino who will make his maiden appearance of the year, can surprise pundits.

A five-race card has been drawn for the day with all races being run over four furlongs, the first starting at 3.30pm.

The fifth and last race which is also day’s feature event under top scale order I and II appears to be a two-horse race between chestnut horse Thunder Star and filly Princess Sadia.

Thunder Star had to be content with second place behind Blazing Arrow in his last outing while Princess Sadia is on course for a hat-trick. Unfortunately, she was not seen in action last week, being scratched on fitness grounds.

Bay horse Faisal King appears smart to make amends while dominating the opening race which has a field of nine acceptors under scale order VIII while bay horse Achilles is tipped to pick up spoils in the second race classified under scale order VI and VII.

Fancied bay horse Raging Comet, who has performed a hat-trick, may go all out to extend his winning run by capturing the third race under scale order IV and V.
