SAHIWAL, Jan 21: On the orders of the Chichawatni additional district and sessions judge, the Saddar police on Friday registered a gang-rape case after over three months of the incident.
According to reports, a woman went to market at Chak 39/12 on the evening of Oct 20 last year when a shopkeeper, Rafiq, dropped the shutters and together with Abdul Ghafoor and Fazlu raped her.
The victim tried to lodge a complaint with the police, but all her efforts ended in smoke. Subsequently, she filed a writ petition with the court of additional district and sessions judge who ordered registration of a case.
The case has been lodged under section 10(3) of the Hudood Ordinance.
THEFT: Five villages plunged into darkness late on Friday when unidentified people took away electricity wire from the Gamber supply line near Chak 59/4-R.
The thieves took away the wire worth Rs100,000 by truck after which chaks 59/4-R, 57/4-R, 62/4-R, 61/4-R and 60/4-R plunged into darkness.
The Mepco authorities could not restore the power supply till last reports came in on Saturday.
This is the 19th theft of Mepco cables in the Noorshah police station precinct.
ASSAULT: An elderly man was clubbed to death while members of his family injured by 14 armed men over an alleged abduction dispute at Chak 58/5-L on Friday evening.
Reports said Waryam and his accomplices — Arshad, Abdullah, Farid, Zafar, Sikandar, Abbas, Mubarik, Sharif, Sabir, Bashir, Shafqat, Anwar Bibi and her daughter, Sajida — armed with clubs and axes, stormed into Ali Sher’s house to exact revenge of abduction of a girl.
They started beating up the inmates, killing Malanga and injuring Falaksher, son of Malanga, his daughter-in-law and grandson Riaz.
The Yousafwala police registered a case under section 302/452, 148/149 of PPC. — Correspondent
