BAHAWALPUR: A man allegedly murdered his grandmother at her house at Samiullah Chowk in Model Town C on Sunday night.

According to Civil Lines police, Moeez (20) wanted to get property of her grandmother Manzoor Mai transferred to her and she refused to do so.

On Sunday night, both exchanged hot words after which Moeez attacked her with a knife, killing her on the spot.

The family refused to shift her body for postmortem examination to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH). The Civil Lines police claimed to have arrested the suspect on Monday.

BURN INJURIES: A housewife suffered critical burns after she was set ablaze in Ahmedpur East on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122, there was a dispute over children fight in mohallah Shikari of Ahmedpur. Someone sprinkled kerosene oil and set Farida (50), wife of Muhammad Hanif, ablaze. She was rushed to THQ hospital Ahmedpur East for treatment. Hanif said he filed a complaint with the police who are yet to register a case.

DOG BITE: A man suffered injuries after he was bitten by a dog near Hussania area on Monday.

According to rescuers, Ahmed was on his way when he was attacked by a pack of stray dogs.

He suffered injuries to his legs. He was shifted to THQ hospital Hasilpur.

Meanwhile, a rickshaw driver identified as Peer Baksh (32) was killed while Muhammad Afzal (40) was seriously injured when both rickshaw drivers were hit by a speeding trailer at Head Pallah on Vehari Road. The trailer driver managed his escape.

Hasilpur Saddar police have registered a case against the driver.
