Mills’ top officials booked for not clearing cane dues

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Tandlianwala Saddar police have booked Javed Kiani, the managing director of Chanar Sugar Mills, Atif Saeed, the mills’ general manager, and Nasir Mahmood, the chief of accounting department, for allegedly refusing to pay a farmer more than Rs2.4 million for the supply of sugarcane.

Zafar Iqbal from Mauza Thatha Beg lodged an FIR under Section 406 of the Pakistan Penal Code, claiming that he supplied sugarcane to the mills in January, but the suspects refused to pay the outstanding amount.

ROOF COLLAPSE: One person lost his life and three others were critically injured during heavy rain in Rajana Chak 292-GB, on Saturday night.

The roof of their house collapsed on them while they were sleeping, and Rescue 1122 reported that heavy debris had to be removed to rescue all four members of the family.

One of them, Sajjad, was killed, while the other three, identified as his father Amjad, mother Kalshoom Akhtar and brother Muhammad Rehan were rushed to the DHQ hospital.

In another incident that same night, during the rain, the roof of a nimko manufacturing factory located in Faisalabad’s Lahori Chowk collapsed. As a result, a worker named Asif Ali suffered serious injuries and was shifted to the Allied Hospital for medical care.

HONOUR KILLING: Honour killing has claimed yet another life in Kamalia, where on Monday, a man killed his daughter for allegedly having an affair with a man in their village.

The Kamalia Saddar police reported that Nasira Bibi from Chak 58/2-GB was shot dead by her father, Zafar Iqbal Mallah.

The accused fled the scene, but later the police apprehended him.

CRACKDOWN: The Faisalabad district administration initiated a crackdown on Monday against vendors who were openly selling food and drink items in hotels, restaurants and on street corners in violation of the Ehtram Ramazan Ordinance.

The crackdown team, led by Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Zubair, arrested 15 violators and handed them over to the police for registering cases against them.

The confiscated goods of the arrested shopkeepers were also seized.
