KARACHI, Jan 17: Sindh Ombudsman Yousuf Jamal taking notice of the tampering of land revenue record of Tando Mohammad Khan on Tuesday ordered the suspension of the concerned Mukhtiarkar namely Shamshad Ali Phal, Supervising Tapedar Jamil Ahmed Halepoto of Deh Tando Mohammad Khan and Sub-Jailer Ghulam Farooq.

The erring officials had altered the record of the rightful ownership of inherited agricultural land by indulging in criminal maladministration with a view to extorting illegal money from the mutatees, who had no right whatsoever to get, in any way, entitled to the possession and ownership of Agricultural land measuring 7.13 acres, located in the prime municipal area.

The decision was taken by the ombudsman after examining the record of rights and securing the evidence of the victims and the concerned revenue officials.

A full bench hearing in this regard was conducted by the ombudsman in his office on Tuesday where Senior Member Board of Revenue Sindh Syed Anwar Haider, Amir Ali Behan DCO Tando Mohammad, A.D. Shar, DCO Sanghar, Zulfiqar Ali Nizamani, DO Revenue Tando Mohammad Khan and other were also present.

It transpired that Mukhtiarkar Shamshad Ali Phal in collusion with Jamil Ahmed, Supervising Tapedar and other made deceitful entries in the Foti-khata of the property of deceased Mohammad Saleh despite the fact that the succession certificate issued by the Senior Civil Judge, Tando Mohammad Khan clearly mentioned that the widow, minor son and the daughter of the deceased were the legal and the rightful heirs of Mohammad Saleh.

The sisters of the deceased who were shown as heir in the record could not masquerade as the inheritors of the property neither under the Sindh Land Revenue Act, nor under the Holy Quran and Sharia.

Moreover, while recording the revenue entries the culprits did not even take care to follow the procedure and instead, acted in wilful violation of the mandatory provisions of the Land Revenue Act. To rectify the erroneous record, the ombudsman ordered cancellation of the unlawful entries, which has been done forthwith.

As directed by the ombudsman, the Senior Member BOR should immediately place the Mukhtiarkar Shamshad Ali and other involved in the corrupt transaction under suspension and conduct enquiry under the Efficiency and Disciplinary Rules.—APP
