KASUR: Chunian police claimed on Saturday to have busted a gang and held four suspects, including a woman, for ‘implicating people in fabricated cases’.
The gang that comprised about a dozen suspects including seven women who worked in different houses, get advance money from the owners, or allegedly steal gold and other valuables and when the owners claimed, they would approach police to implicate them in false cases, police said.
As per the police, the suspects had established a racket and would send women to work in houses as maid, and later implicate people in fake cases including kidnap of women.
According to police, suspect Muhammad Latif submitted an application against trader Muhammad Khurram, his wife Moona Bibi and brother Jahangir, for allegedly kidnapping his wife, some weeks back.
The applicant claimed that Khurram, his wife and brother tortured and, later expelled Abida Bibi, wife of Latif and maid in the house of Khurram, over the charge of theft. He alleged that Khurram later went to his house and kidnapped Abida Bibi.
The application was set aside after thorough investigation, police said and added that the complainant moved the Lahore High Court for recovery of his wife but the court also dismissed the application for want of any concrete evidence.
Suspecting the applicant, police arrested Latif and his accomplices who during the course of investigation, revealed that Abida was not kidnapped. Police recovered Abida on the indication of Latif.
Police lodged a case against four people under section 211 (false charge of offence made with intent to injure), and 182 (false information with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) of Pakistan Penal Code.
