DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Dera Ismail Khan division commissioner Nisar Ahmad has said repair work on the flood-hit Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) would start soon as tenders to this effect have been issued.

He informed this to caretaker minister for agriculture, livestock and fisheries Abdul Haleem Khan Qasuria during a meeting here on Saturday.

The commissioner also briefed the minister about the steps being taken to resolve public issues.

The minister said performance of government departments should be further improved to facilitate people.

The commissioner said the process of free flour distribution was underway in different tehsils without any glitch, adding flour distribution would also be started in Dera tehsil soon.

Mr Ahmad said in order to provide a clean environment to citizens, streets and roads were being cleared of garbage, besides clearing the choked drains.

KILLED: Two boys were killed and another was injured when two motorcycles collided on the Band Dhappanwala Road here on Saturday.

The victims were identified as Hafiz Mohammad Abubakar and his relative Mohammad Ans, residents of Prova. The deceased and the injured boy were shifted to the District Headquarters Teaching Hospital, Dera.

VISIT: Assistant commissioner, Dera, Farhan Ahmad, has written a letter to the district health officer for taking action against the doctors and other staffers he found absent from duty during a surprise visit to the Police Lines Hospital and civil dispensary in Dinpur area.

He conducted the visit on the directives of deputy commissioner Mohammad Shoaib.

He checked the attendance register, but found some doctors and staffers absent from duty.

ARREST: The Dera police on Saturday arrested three persons and recovered drugs and stolen items from their possession.

A team of Cantonment police station led SHO Sabir Husain Baloch arrested Zahid Iqbal of Mohallah Alam Sher and recovered 130 gram heroin and 115 gram ice drug from him.

The same police arrested Amanullah of Basti Kanchkanwali and recovered 245 grams heroin from him.

Inayat Shah of Chah Syed Munawar area was arrested in a theft case and stolen goods were recovered from him.
