WHILE hell has been let loose on the Muslims of Godhra and thousands have fallen victim to the blood-lust of Hindu and Sikh barbarians, and mass migration continues, all the resources of the Bombay Government are being utilised for the suppression of news about the killings. The iron curtain of censorship is being drawn closer and news about the holocaust is being successfully blacked out. Nothing can be said about the extent of the situation now. The only information available at the moment is that the exodus to Bombay and Baroda continues unabated.

An air letter from a refugee now in Bombay says that the trouble was started by Hindu evacuees from Sind at the instigation of the Collector of the district and with the active connivance of the other officials. The letter suggested that the police and the military have not only been onlookers but have also taken an active part in organising the whole affair. … According to a trunk telephone call from Bombay received by Dawn late in the night Bombay Muslims have chartered special planes to fly foodstuffs to Baroda. — Dawn Staff Reporter
