Supporting smiles

Haleon Pakistan Limited (formerly GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Pakistan Limited) has announced a partnership with a leading global cleft charity, Smile Train, raising funds through its oral care brands, Sensodyne and Parodontax.

Annually, one in every 600 children in Pakistan is born with cleft lips and palates. In most cases, these children face difficulty in eating, speaking and breathing and are subjected to social stigma. The partnership between Haleon Pakistan and Smile Train will help children born with cleft lips/palates to lead full and productive lives, achieving their own potential and contributing to their community.

Sindh Bank champions

The 19th Governor Cup 2023 Inter Bank Regional Cricket Tournament finals of Karachi Region were held at the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Sports Complex on Saturday, March 18, 2023. The final was played between Sindh Bank and SBP, and Sindh Bank was crowned champion by winning by five wickets.

TDAP’s awareness seminar

As part of the TDAP campaign for the promotion of sustainability in the textile industry of Pakistan, TDAP conducted a pre-event awareness seminar on ‘Sustainability in the Leather Sector’ on March 20, 2023, given its upcoming Texpo 2023 exhibition (26-28 May 2023). Stakeholders from the leather industry and environment experts attended this mindful session.

The Annual General Meeting of Bank AL Habib Limited was held at its Registered Office in Multan on March 21, 2023. The shareholders approved the annual accounts for the year ending December 31, 2022. The payment of 70pc cash dividend was also approved. As a result, deposits of the bank as on December 31, 2022, were Rs1.568tr and profit after tax was Rs16.57bn.

Bank ABC transformation project

Bank ABC, one of MENA’s leading international banks, has signed agreements with Temenos and NdcTech to replace its core banking systems for its retail, corporate and wholesale businesses and power its subsidiary, ila Bank, the MENA region’s fast-growing digital mobile-only bank, with Temenos’ core banking platform on the cloud. With this transformation project, to be implemented by NdcTech (a Systems Limited Company), Bank ABC will replace its legacy core banking systems for its network of operations serving customers in 25 markets from 15 countries worldwide with a single instance of the Temenos platform.

Adamjee’s Nighbaan Drive

Adamjee Life launched its Nigehbaan Ramazan Drive in collaboration with humanitarian and social welfare services organisations, including the Indus Hospital & Health Network, SIUT and JDC Foundation. The Nigehbaan Ramzan Drive aims to create awareness and empower individuals to contribute to society through multiple charitable organisations impacting millions of lives in various segments of society. To further facilitate this cause, Adamjee Life will conduct a social outreach programme through its social media platforms that will help mobilise the general public, especially the youth.

KE’s digital stamps

K-Electric has taken another innovative step towards moving to a paperless ecosystem by introducing digital stamps for customer bills. This will allow customers to maintain digital proof of payment of KE bills, with the record accessible from KE live app, website, and WhatsApp self-service portal.

Meezan Bank’s accolades

Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s leading Islamic Bank and one of the largest banks in the country has been recognised as the global winner of ‘Best Islamic Retail Bank’ for 2022 by Islamic Finance News of REDmoney Group, Malaysia. The bank also achieved a clean sweep of all the six Pakistan-level titles awarded by IFN.

ICMA’s convention

The International Convention of Accountants (ICOA) was organised by ICMA on 18th & 19th March 2023 in Bhurban. The ICOA united the global accounting community in fostering international cooperation among accountants. The theme of this year’s convention was environmental, social, and governance sustainability.
