SWABI: Three people were killed and two injured when a car was ambushed two hours before Iftar here on Saturday, police and Rescue 1122 officials said.

The incident occurred in jurisdiction of Swabi city police station.

The city police station officials said the victims were on way home in a car. They said when the vehicle reached near the district headquarters, their rivals, who were already waiting for them there, opened fire on the car, killing Zulqarnain Khan and Bahadar Khan on the spot. Another man, Kaleem Khan succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

The bodies were shifted to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, for autopsy.

The doctors in the hospital said condition of one of the injured, Rukhsar, was very critical.

The police said they had yet to register an FIR of the incident. However, they said cause of the incident was an old enmity.

Meanwhile, unknown robbers snatched over Rs500,000 cash from a trader at gunpoint in a steel market in Kunda Mor area here on Saturday, the police said.

Zeeshan Ahmad, a trader from Maneri Bala village, while registering an FIR with the Chota Lahor city police station, said unknown robbers entered his shop, held him at gunpoint and decamped with huge cash.

Separately, Tajur Rehman, a resident of Tordher village, said two thieves took away two solar panels from the roof of his house on Friday night. He claimed Abid Khan and Ramazan Khan, who belonged to Jehangira village, were involved in stealing the solar panels.

The police have registered an FIR against the accused.
