LAKKI MARWAT: Representatives of different traders’ bodies on Tuesday organised a protest camp in front of the press club building in Bannu city to press the government to hand over the office of the Bannu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to them.

A good number of traders affiliated with different organisations gathered outside the press club.

The protesting traders had displayed banners inscribed with their demands.

Speaking on the occasion, Anjuman-i-Tajiran provincial vice-president Malik Maqbool Khan and chamber’s president Shah Wazir Khan and other office-bearers said the local authorities had handed over the office built for the chamber to the Rescue 1122, thus depriving the business community of the facility meant for them.

They held former officials of the district administration responsible for it and said the rescue service had its own office accommodation on the sports complex premises.

They said that the chamber was a registered body and that the business community had the legal and constitutional right to have their own office building.

The traders’ leaders said they would continue their struggle till the office was vacated by the rescue service and handed over to them.
