LAKKI MARWAT: Two unidentified motorcyclists shot at and injured an official of the district accounts office in Naurang town of Lakki Marwat district, the police said on Tuesday.
They said that the attackers escaped after targeting the official, namely Abdul Shakoor, 40, in the main bazaar located along the GT Road. They said that the injured official was shifted to a government health facility in the town.
The official, who is an assistant accounts officer, told the police in his preliminary report that two motorcyclists opened fire on him with pistols when he was on way to Mohallah Nathokhel.
He said that he received bullet wounds and fell on the ground, while the attackers fled on the motorcycle. The official told the police that he had no enmity with anyone.
The police said that they had registered a case against unknown attackers under section 324 (attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of Pakistan Penal Code and began investigation.
Meanwhile, two minor boys drowned in Kurrum River near Talab Kallay area in Bannu on Tuesday. Rescue officials said that a team of divers was sent to the area when the control room received information about the incident.
“Accompanied by a medical team the divers reached the place and launched a search for boys in deep waters,” they maintained.
They said that the bodies of both the boys were retrieved from the river after hectic efforts.
The deceased identified as Mujtaba, 11, and Murtaza, 13, were brothers and they belonged to Khashni Kallay Bazaar Ahmad Khan, the officials said. They said that the bodies were handed over to relatives after fulfilling medico-legal formalities at the District Headquarters Hospital.
