KARACHI: A special gender-based violence court on Thursday sentenced a man to five-year imprisonment for attempting to sexually assault a minor girl in 2020.

Aizaz Ali, alias Aijaz Ali, was found guilty of trying to sexually assault a child aged between seven and eight years within the remit of the Super Market police station on Dec 15, 2020.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (Central) Zabiha Khattak on Thursday pronounced her judgement, which was earlier reserved after recording evidence and final arguments from the defence and prosecution.

The convict, who was produced in custody, was sent to the prison to serve out the remaining term of his sentence.
