PESHAWAR: The commercial banking circle of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man for allegedly running Hundi Hawala business.

According to officials, a raid was conducted in Chowk Yadgar area of the provincial capital on Wednesday and a man identified as Imran Khan was arrested.

“Imran Khan was arrested for running illegal business. We have recovered Rs6.1 million besides receipts used for Hundi Hawala from his procession,” an official said. He added that the arrested man was charged under relevant sections of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947.

On February 22, FIA arrested three persons including an Afghan national and recovered Rs13.8 million from their possession.

It also arrested five persons on February 8 and recovered Rs30.2 million besides receipts used for Hundi Hawala business from them in the same area.
