QUETTA: A day after the recovery of his wife and two children, Levies personnel recovered the three remaining sons of Khan Muhammad Marri in an overnight search operation, while a court on Thursday remanded provincial minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran into police custody for 10 days.

The crime branch of Balochistan Police produced the minister in the court of Judicial Magistrate Samina Nasreen amid tight security. The court then remanded him into police custody for further interrogation for 10 days.

Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said that an investigation was underway and the case has already been transferred to the Crime Branch in Quetta from the Barkhan police. He said the JIT formed by the chief minister and a special team of senior police officers was investigating the issue.

Meanwhile, the sit-in organised by the members of the Marri tribe and family members of Mr Marri in Red Zone entered its third day as protesters refused to call off their protest till the registration of an FIR against the minister on the application of Mr Marri.

All children recovered

Meanwhile, official sources said that the Quick Response Force (QRF) of Levies recovered three more children of Khan Muhammad Marri in an overnight search operation in the early hours of Thursday.

“We continued to conduct raids at suspected hideouts and in the small hours of Thursday managed to locate three remaining sons of Mr Marri from Nasao, an area close to Dera Bugti district,” Resaldar Major Sher Muhammad Marri claimed. He said, however, no arrest could be made as the people guarding the place “escaped” after receiving information about the raid.

“The recovered children and the wife of Mr Marri were found to be in good health, but they were scared,” the officials said, adding added that after meeting with the concerned officials, they were sent to Quetta amid tight security to join their family members who were taking part in the protest sit-in in Quetta.

But after the recovery of Khan Muhammad Marri’s wife and children, police and other investigating agencies are in a fix about the identity of the 18-year-old girl whose body was recovered from the well along with two male bodies in Haji Kot area of Barkhan.

Separately, demonstrations were held in Dalbandin, Noshki, Washuk, and Kharan by the National Party (NP), Baloch Students Organisation-Pajjar (BSO-P), and members of civil society. In Dalbandin, the district headquarters of Chagai, the NP and BSO-P members held a demonstration outside the press club.
