TAXILA: Attock district police officials including those in the lower rank were reshuffled on the directives of inspector general of police (IGP) Punjab.

DSP Kazim Niaz was appointed as sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Hassanabdal, Jehangir Joya was appointed as SDPO Hazro circle, DSP Asghar Ali was appointed as SDPO Fatehjang while DSP Fayyazul Haq was posted as SDPO Attock Saddar circle.

Niaz Ahmed was appointed as SHO Bhattar while Safdar Khan was appointed as SHO Fatehjang.

Moreover, 31 sub inspectors, assistant sub inspectors and junior rank officials including drivers and moharrars were transferred to various police stations of the district.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani urged police officers to perform their duties honestly and diligently and use their full potential to serve citizens. He expressed these views while conducting a surprise check at police station Taxila.

“It is the responsibility of police to root out crime and use their powers honestly,” he said, adding that unlawful detention and the concept of private torture cells in the name of investigation was unbearable.

He said it was the responsibility of police to protect the lives and properties of people. Mr Hamdani made it clear that strict action would be taken against those who were found negligent in performing their duties.

Earlier, during the surprise check, the CPO inspected front desks, buildings, lock-ups, mess and cleanliness of the stations. He also checked the daily entry register of the police stations and directed station house officers (SHOs) to accelerate efforts for the arrest of maximum criminals including proclaimed offenders and court absconders. He said an effective strategy was vital towards controlling crime and a professional and responsible attitude must be adopted to mitigate sufferings of people.

Three abducted

A teenage girl was abducted by a man, allegedly with the support of his mother and sister in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station on Friday. Mohammad Masood reported to police that his 16-year-old daughter was going to school when his daughter was abducted.

Besides this, Ghulam Mustafa reported to the same police that his 21-year-old daughter went to a local hospital from where she was abducted by an unknown person. Nasir Mehmood police that his wife was going to her relatives’ house when she was abducted by unknown persons.

Respective police registered separate cases and launched a hunt to trace the victims.
