SWABI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s local leaders have criticised the party’s provincial president Eng Amir Maqam for using the federal government funds in other regions and ignoring the Swabi district.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Wednesday, the party leaders, including district president and former MPA Shiraz Khan and district general secretary and former MPA Babar Saleem, said if Mr Muqam didn’t shun the ‘unfair’ treatment with Swabi, they would approach Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and party’s central vice-president Maryam Nawaz.

On the occasion, Mr Shiraz alleged that Mr Muqam’s policies had weakened the party in the district.

Mr Saleem alleged that Mr Muqam had spent billions of rupees on Hazara division, but kept the Swabi district deprived of any uplift funds.

KILLED: A grenade blast killed a man and injured another in Kala village here on Wednesday, the police said.

SHO Swabi city police station Ajab Durrani said that a man, namely Inayat Khan, 40, who tried to stop Asif Umar, 30, from attacking his rival, was killed and Asif was injured when the grenade held by the injured went off.

He said a Rescue 1122 team shifted the injured to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor. The city police have registered an FIR and started investigations.
