ISLAMABAD: A multiparty conference (MPC) announced by PM Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the resurgence of terrorism has been put off once again, and a new date will be announced later.

Although PM Shehbaz was scheduled to leave for Turkiye on Wednesday (today) in the wake of an earthquake, sources said the premier’s trip had been cancelled for the time being.

Earlier in the day, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb tweeted the PM’s itinerary, saying that he would express his condolences to the people of Turkiye for the destruction of the earthquake and the loss of life.”

As a result, the MPC convened on Feb 9 was being postponed, she said, adding that a new date would be announced in consultation with government allies. The conference was initially scheduled for Feb 7.
