Summer Beauty wins at LRC

LAHORE: Bay colt Summer Beauty annexed the Kashmir Day Cup after galloping to a three-length victory over bay filly Sundari here at the Lahore Racecourse on Sunday.

Filly Samore had to be contend with third place followed by mare Brave Eagle who completed the quartet.

The victorious horse was trained by Mohammed Afzal and was piloted home by Safdar Hussain.

Favourite bay filly Leisure Trip justified his billing as he clinched the main supporting event Sheikh Zaheer Aslam Memorial Cup. It clocked in one minute 11 2/5 seconds over 1200 metres distance. Colts Bella Verde and Farhan King finished second and third, respectively.

Rank outsider colt JK created quite a stir by getting the better of eight rivals and recording a come from behind victory to secure the second main supporting event, the Yasoob Again Cup, run over 1200 metres.

JK finished two lengths ahead of mare Hash Tag with Mera Gondal and favourite colt Persian Pearl completing the board.

Sanwali Sloni won the seventh race of the day by a length distance. Bay horse Al Mujali was pulled off from the race by jockey Mohammad Zulfiqar.
