HYDERABAD: The Model Criminal Trial Court-II on Wednesday awarded death sentence to an accused in the murder case of his wife, who was killed on July 15, 2021, in their house in the jurisdiction of Baldia police station.

Announcing the verdict for Umer Memon, Additional District Judge-IV Ghulam Murtaza Baloch said the convict was directed to pay compensation of Rs1 million to the legal heirs of the deceased, Quratul Ain alias Aini Buledi.

The 32-year-old woman was killed in Barrage Colony, a residential scheme for the irrigation department’s officers and employees. Umer Memon was arrested by Baldia police.

Aini’s brother Asadullah Buledi, a forest official, had lodged a case under Section 302 PPC against her husband vide crime No 44/21.

Represented by Samiullah Rind advocate, he claimed that his sister’s seven-year-old daughter told him that her father had hit her mother with a utensil of dry fruit and when she fell unconscious, he throttled her.
