HARIPUR: The police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a teenage girl in a remote village of Sera-i-Nehmat Khan union council, officials said on Monday.

Saddar police officials quoted a 17-year-old girl from Ainpur Paswal village as saying that she was at home on Sunday afternoon when Israr Ali from the same locality, called her on her mobile phone requesting her to come to his home for an important family matter.

The girl said when she reached Ali’s house he was alone there and dragged her to a room and raped her.

The accused, according to the victim, took her to an adjacent home and locked her there for some time, threatening her of consequences if she shared her ordeal to anyone.

However, she said on her promise he let her go home. She said she shared the incident with her parents.

Investigation officer Ibrar Khan said preliminary medical examination of the girl confirmed she was raped.

However, the swab and other case properties were being dispatched to Forensic Science Laboratory, Peshawar, for final report.

He said the man had been arrested and the investigation branch had obtained his one-day physical remand from the court of judicial magistrate.
