ISLAMABAD: A robber was shot dead during an encounter with police while a police official was severely injured on Sunday night.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Karachi Company police station.

According to a police spokesperson, three persons were escaping after a robbery in sector G-10.

“After getting information, a police team started chasing them. While they were in sector G-9/1, the robbers opened fire on the police team due to which one police official Kamran-ud-Din was severely injured. In exchange of fire, a robber died but the other two managed to escape,” he said, adding that because of the nature of the incident, Inspector General of Police Dr Akbar Nasir Khan and other senior police officers reached the place of the incident.

“The injured police officer was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences along with the deceased. A search operation has been started for the arrest of the other two robbers,” he said.
