PESHAWAR: Chief Traffic Police Officer Umar Abbas Babar has said that the department is introducing a new system which will help identify traffic jams and maintain smooth traffic flow on Peshawar roads.

“The new system is being brought to resolve traffic issues in the city,” Mr Babar said during a news briefing at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines here on Wednesday.

He asked the business community not to allow parking of cars by customers on roads as it caused traffic issues. He said the plaza owners should refrain from encroaching footpaths and make sure provision of parking areas in their respective business centres.

He said a campaign was under way against encroachments so that the locals and transporters did not face problems while travelling on roads.
