KARACHI, Jan 4: The City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, on Wednesday said the city government had initiated various projects worth billions of rupees for the city’s uplift and infrastructure development within a short span of time, and citizens would witness a visible change in six months to a year’s time.

He was speaking to councillors of Jamshed Town during his visit to the town.

He said the city government was executing several projects of water, sewerage, rain drain and road construction worth Rs500 million in Jamshed Town in addition to Rs50 million for the improvement of water and sewerage systems.

The city nazim was told work on water and sewerage schemes was slow, on which he ordered the KWSB officials to expedite work on such projects.

He told the meeting of councillors that work had been started on various projects for revamping water and sewerage systems in the city costing billions of rupees. While the carpeting of city roads had also started, he said.

Similarly, medicines worth Rs180 million were being purchased for city government hospitals, he added.

A decision had been taken to privatise solid waste management, he said.

Kamal ordered the repair of road in UC-5 within four days, completion of the Ghulam Ali Memon Road within six months and that of Martin Road within three months.

Directions were given to the KWSB to prepare, within two days, a PC-I for laying water supply and sewerage lines at a cost of Rs50 million in Mehmoodabad.—PPI
