CITY OF RUINS

CITY OF RUINS: That the Red Line bus service is a good idea goes without saying, but what about the manner in which its construction work is being executed? For a long-term project that is bound to take a couple of years, if not more, the planning is pathetic. It is causing unimaginable torture to the daily commuters, and there are hundreds of thousands of them. During peak hours, the traffic becomes almost violent as people struggle to somehow reach their destinations. Besides, who is responsible for all the trees that have been chopped down ruthlessly? A good initiative is being badly executed, turning a beautiful city into ruins.

FREELANCERS’ SUFFERINGS: The concept of fintech has been growing rapidly which has made banking easier for freelancers, but the freelance community in Pakistan has been struggling to get their earned money transferred. Just recently, Google Play Store has limited its financial interaction in Pakistan to users with credit cards. What about the rest of us?

KHUZDAR WITHOUT GAS: The second largest district in Balochistan, Khuzdar having a population of a million, remains deprived of natural gas supply. People are compelled to use firewood to keep their life moving. This is sheer injustice to a province that has been supplying natural gas to the entire country for almost half a century.

CELLULAR SERVICE WOES: The interior of Sindh has been facing cellular issues and frequent abrupt call drops along with slow internet. The issue has become a constant nuisance across the region and regardless of the service provider. As a lawyer, I recently filed a petition in Sindh High Court on the issue after I could not get a satisfactory answer from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Though the petition was dismissed by the court, I certainly intend to file a complaint with the PTA again and will keep complaining until the issue gets resolved.
