ISLAMABAD: Mohammad Shoaib continued his winning run as he beat Muzamil Murtaza 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 to lift the men’s single title in the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Tennis Championship here at the Islamabad Tennis Complex on Sunday.

Shoaib recently downed veteran Aqeel Khan to grab the Federal Cup.

In a see-saw battle, Shoaib managed to break his opponent’s serve to clinch the first set, but Muzamil staged the comeback as he easily defeated Shoaib in the second set 6-1. Shoaib, though, didn’t let it happen and won the decider 6-4 to clinch the championship.

Sarah Mehmoob triumphed in the ladies singles final after defeating Esha Jawad 6-0 6-1.

Meanwhile, Hassan Hashmi earned the U-12 championship overpowering Shayan Afridi 2-4, 5-3, 4-2. Shayan made amends as he secured the U-10 crown hammering Hajra 4-1, 4-2.

In the Seniors doubles (45 plus) final, the duo of Azeem Khan and Mehboob Khan overcame the pair of Israr Gul and Rashid Malik 5-7, 6-1, 10-7.
