PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party has expressed reservations about the provincial government’s announcement about new development schemes and asked the chief minister to pay salary to the government employees instead of attracting voters through hollow slogans.

In a statement here on Friday, ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan said on one hand, the provincial government didn’t have money to pay salary to its employees but on the other, the chief minister was busy announcing plans to for politics.

He said the new schemes were meant only to divert people’s attention from their issues.

The ANP leader said had the ruling PTI any sympathy for the people, its government would have done a lot for people’s development during the last 10 years of rule.

“Four and a half thousand employees of sanitation services are demonstrating to claim their basic rights but the provincial government is silent about it. This matter is related to thousands of families, so the government should talk to them,” he said.

Mr Aimal said the chief minister had been making development announcements for a few months to serve political ends.

He said the province was bankrupt due to the wrong policies of the ruling PTI.

The ANP leader said the people and police were subjected to gun attacks in the province but regrettably, the provincial government wasn’t taking steps to protect their lives.

He said accountability should be across the board.

Mr Aimal demanded probe into alleged anomalies in the Peshawar BRT, Malam Jabba land lease, Al-Qadir University land, Ring Road and Billion Tree Tsunami projects.
